Working Mission Statement
To advocate, empower, elevate hunger and malnutrition for people that live 300% below government guidelines of poverty or worse. Continue to review, discuss and evaluate with the eye on the future economy, keeping within the charisma of the poverty program: service to the poor and focus on the children.
Sts. Peter and Paul Poverty Program was founded in 1978 and is a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph Of Cluny and SS. Peter and Paul Parish. Realizing the personal and social problems deriving from deprivation, we sought then to "light some candles" of hope as a partial remedy, at least, to a distressful situation. We still continue to see the integration of family life as a major contribution to a better social climate and conversely, we see domestic stress as a forerunner of broken families, unsupervised street children and mental anguish. Therefore we make every effort to reach out to struggling families to help them maintain an optimum of bondedness. The program is a 5019c (3) charitable organization, serving more than half of Wilmington on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Food is delivered to our shut ins.
